Welcome to another AtoZ Challenge Post! Today is the letter G:
If you love the small town feel, this is the place for you. History buffs will enjoy this antiquated town with its overabundance of museums and historic homesteads. We have many B&Bs located along tree lined streets. Most of the downtown attractions are located within walking distance from the Mississippi River. We even have a trolley to take you on a guided tour around the city. I think the Hannibal Chamber of Commerce should hire me to be a PR person or something with all this promoting I've been doing!

Yep, it's as good as it sounds & a real brick oven for some tasty pizza. |

If you love writing, nature, fishing, boating, hiking, exploring, art, history, shopping, and eating, then Hannibal is the perfect getaway for you!
What's your perfect getaway?
By the time this challenge is over, I have the feeling that I'm going to NEED to visit. My perfect getaway would be the small town I grew up in, in Northern PA.
ReplyDeleteHa! That's how I felt last year when I wrote my posts every morning. I prepared most of mine in advance this year:) Come on by!
DeleteI do love small towns. I'm not much of a city person.
ReplyDeleteI want to eat at The Brick Oven! Yum!!
I'm actually both. I think I have a split personality! Yes, pizza from a brick oven is awesome.

ReplyDeleteI like it when you can park the car and get to everything without driving!
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteDowntown looks lovely and homey.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping in Under The Porch Light....here from the A to Z Challenge.
Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteSounds lovely. I wish my small town would shrink back to small. They're nice small. Untethered Realms / MPax
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm sure Hannibal used to be a lot smaller back in Twain's day:)
DeleteI grew up in a tiny town (albeit one with virtually zero tourist attraction), so I find small towns generally dull. My favourite destination is the concentrated, bustling heart of a downtown metropolis, where everything you could want is within walking distance and there's someone waiting to stab you or beg for change on every corner.
ReplyDeleteThe town is still looking darned quaint and interesting. You may have lured another tourist your direction.
ReplyDeleteThis town looks wonderful. After living my entire life in SUPER crowded So. Calif., I'd love to hang out here for awhile. It looks so serene and congestion free.

Jennifer, I also grew up on the Mississippi, much farther north of you in McGregor, Iowa. I remember traveling to Hannibal when we took a trip one summer to see the Arch. The most amazing thing? The elevator had to rotate to accommodate the ascent. Oh, and the mounted policeman. Cool destination. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSounds awesome.

ReplyDeleteVisiting from the A-Z Blogging Challenge! We were in Hannibal two years ago on our way to Springfield from St. Louis, but it was too rainy to get out of the car. I am anxious to go back and spend some time there.
ReplyDeleteI like anything with a beach! But the mountains are the closest really nice getaway to Nashville.
ReplyDeleteI love a museum! Small town ones always have interesting info.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a perfect site for a relaxing weekend :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks very serene there.
