April #IWSG: To read or to be read to--via audio books

                                               First Wed of Every Month

                                                Remember, the question is optional!!!

                                               You ready?

Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!

April 6 question - Have any of your books been made into audio books? If so, what is the main challenge in producing an audiobook?
The awesome co-hosts for the April 6 posting of the IWSG are Joylene Nowell Butler, Jemima Pett, Patricia Josephine, Louise - Fundy Blue, and Kim Lajevardi!

I'm a little late to the blog hop party today. Loving this spring weather!

To be read to is an easy question to answer. Yes, I love audio books. Yes, I buy them on Chirp--no monthly fees. I listen to them with my daughter. It's been a life-changer for her. She eagerly asks for the next book in the series.

I've seen ads on Pinterest where you can sign up and get paid to actually use your voice to read an audible book. I wonder if you have to audition? Just curious. Wouldn't that be cool to hear your own voice reading an awesome book or your own?

Gotta run. Hope this post finds you refreshed and ready for spring or summer!

  1. I haven't heard too many audio books :) prefer physical copies.

  2. I hear audiobooks are the way to go, especially when driving, but I fear my mind would start picturing things and I'd wind up 50 miles from home.

  3. That's ncool that your daughter and you listen to audiobooks together. I used to love to read to my daughter.

  4. I love listening to audiobooks--they are my primary source of book consumption--but I'm not keen on the sound of my own voice. I sound like a stuffy little kid! I doubt many people would tolerate that for an audiobook experience. :)

  5. Check out sites that assist with producing audio books and see what you have to do to become a narrator. Why not?

  6. Search YouTube. I use them frequently when I'm covering a class and we're reading something. Kiddos love being read to, and that way I know they at least were exposed to the assignment :)

  7. That's great that your daughter is so into audiobooks. I'm not sure how I would feel about hearing my own voice reading a book. It sounds so different when I hear it recorded for other reasons. Something to think about.
