#IWSG November: Falling for Book Blurbs

                                        First Wed of Every Month

Remember, the question is optional!!!

This month's optional question:
What's harder to do, coming up with your book title or writing the blurb?

The awesome co-hosts for the November 3 posting of the IWSG are Kim Lajevardi, Victoria Marie Lees, Joylene Nowell Butler, Erika Beebe, and Lee Lowery!

To answer this month's question, I enjoy writing book blurbs almost as much as I love coming up with titles. Reading solid book blurbs in your favorite genre helps you create your own. Sometimes I read book titles on the shelf and make better ones up in my head. Like, what was the author/publisher thinking??

We are in the grips of fall weather, and I couldn't be happier! This is the moment I live for all year. My oldest son got married last month, a bittersweet moment. My house is slowly getting back to normal. I've already transformed his old room into my home office and guest room. So excited to have a place to work from home and start the writing journey again.

Enjoying fall? Any exciting plans or excursions this season? Anyone participating in NANO? Anyone "falling" into a good book or TV series?

  1. Congrats on your son's wedding. My daughter recently got engaged. I know what you mean about it being bittersweet.

I read book blurbs for inspiration but should follow your tip to look at them for titles, which I struggle with too.

  2. Congrats to your son. I've been doing a lot of re-reading, but I'm enjoying The Big Leap on TV.

  6. That's a great picture, and grats on the new addition to the family. :) I was wondering how the new job was treating you? Is it letting you get into your writing?

    1. I am getting used to the job first. Then I'll pick up the writing again. SOON...

  7. I’m glad to hear somebody enjoys writing blurbs. I have never got to the stage where I have to do it but it sounds gruelling. Writing a synopsis is like drawing teeth. Good luck.

    1. Sometimes if I have a good idea for a book, I'll write a short blurb first to see if it sounds exciting enough:)

  11. I think I have more trouble with titles than I do blurbs. A title needs to stand out and catch your attention and then you read the blurb.

    1. So true! And there's a ton of good titles already taken, so it makes it extremely hard to find that unique one.
