September #IWSG: Gotta Have Faith

                                          First Wed of Every Month

Remember, the question is optional!!!

September 1 question - How do you define success as a writer? Is it holding your book in your hand? Having a short story published? Making a certain amount of income from your writing?
The awesome co-hosts for the September 1 posting of the IWSG are Rebecca Douglass, T. Powell Coltrin @Journaling Woman, Natalie Aguirre, Karen Lynn, and C. Lee McKenzie!

I'm positive the definition of success will vary greatly in this awesome group of writers. I've held my book baby in my hand. After some success, I continue to navigate the weird waters of the publishing world. My job as a librarian was pretty demanding especially having two schools last year. I think I've finally found my dream job of working from home! At first, it was a leap of faith. But the pay is great, the hours are flexible, and I can read and write way more than in previous years. I will miss my kiddos at school, but it was time for a change.

Speaking of change, I'm so over this heat. Little did I know that the Midwest has a boiling point. However, today the temperature dropped to the low eighties. Yes, my house is decorated for fall. Yes, I long for sweater weather. No regrets.

Anyone else anxious for autumn? How do you define success as a writer? What needs to change in your life? Will you step out in faith? Anyone going back to school this fall?

  1. Its such a joy holding our book baby/ies in our hands, isn't it? A librarian's job is the best for a writer :)

  2. Glad you found your dream job working at home. I have a contract job writing at home, which really works for this stage of life. Though I'd love to be a librian like you were.

I'm still amazed I can hold a book that I wrote - such a wild and wonderful feeling!

  6. Going back to school this fall? I've been back since July 7th. Or actually, officially August 12th. But really since July.

Glad the temps are dropping for you. Hot days are no fun.

  7. A flexible job from home seems like the perfect compromise.

Anxious for autumn? OMG, I cannot wait for this season of hell to pass. Most of my house is perpetually reflective of Halloween. 🎃💀🦇

  8. Hi,
It is so nice that you've found your dream job, where you can write from home and even take a break when you would like to.
All the best for your future.

  9. I'm not exactly sure I can say I'm anxious for autumn. While it's most definitely my favorite time of the year, and I'm really psyched when it arrives, I also know that it eventually leads to winter. And autumn in Michigan only seems to last a couple of weeks sometimes, so I'm conflicted.

  10. It's still hot and smoky here in Idaho, and I'm looking forward to cooler days (but not too cold!) and clearer air.

I hope your new job works well for you!
