AtoZ Challenge: V - Vintage

Picture

Greetings from Hannibal, MO, Mark Twain's boyhood hometown, my theme for this year's AtoZ Challenge.

This is probably in the running for my shortest post this month. The last few letters are quite the challenge. But seriously, AtoZ Challengers, it's the weekend! Without further ado, I present some vintage buildings in Hannibal. Vintage is a fancy word for very old. Have a great weekend!

  1. I can see why you like the house. It's interesting to see vintage buildings and notice the differing architectural styles used. I like that some cities are preserving the old downtown buildings and renovating and resusing them. :-)

    1. I pass by it every day and drool. When my boys were younger, they would stop by for trick-or-treating:)

  3. Vintage buildings are beautiful. Who needs a long post, when you have such lovely pictures to do all the talking? ;)

  4. That thin, tall building could be a store on the bottom, office and storage in the middle, and living quarters on top.

    1. The Chamber of Commerce Building used to be just like that. The lady who owned it before them and turned the bottom into an ice cream shop where they sold art too. They lived on the top floor and converted the middle into an art studio. Great views.

  5. Love all the old crown work! The hotel is my favorite. Our little town in SE Texas is working to restore & vitalize it's original downtown square.

  6. Ha, that parkour alley cracked me up. It does look pretty good. All those buildings really are lovely. It's nice when the vintage buildings last. I love that house, too.

    1. My son is a calculated risk taker. He loves to climb, but, at least, he's pretty careful.

  7. I love old buildings - you can really feel the history of the place. And I'm always on the look out for ghosts. I have no idea what I'd do if I saw one though :-/

    1. Ha! I've heard many of the old buildings are haunted, but the locals just might be trying to stir up some business. :)

  8. And now you know why I do pics on Saturdays. Makes for a great post. Short and sweet. With pretty things to look at.

  9. I thought "vintage" meant "over-priced-used-clothes?"

And is parkour French for "damn, I'm going to break my ankle?"

    Great pics as always.

    1. "I'm gonna break something!" (I think that's what parkour means) :P And thanks!

  10. Nice little tour. That house is gorgeous. Is it privately owned?

  12. Beautiful pictures. Yes, it's the weekend! And we're almost to the end of this exhausting month. I'm packing to move to a new house in a week and typing this while surrounded by boxes...so the A to Z has definitely been a "challenge" for me!

  17. I like how just one section of the apartment building is painted red. It's like a racing stripe on that part of the building :)
